Franz Bunke
During Bunke's lifetime, around 1920, there were 3 hotels and 25 restaurants and taverns in Schwaan. The artists not only worked together, regular social evenings were also part of life in the colony. They met up with other art lovers in the many pubs in Schwaan. It was customary for the artists to pay for their meals and drinks with works of art or to decorate the walls of the restaurants with their artistic works in return. The Hotel Drewes and the Gasthaus zur Börse, next to the watermill, were the most popular meeting places. The building is now a residential and commercial building.
