Choir concert in Wiendorf
It's half time. In the middle of the year, when the days are long and bright and the nights are short, St. John's Day is celebrated on June 24.
On this day, Christians commemorate the birth of John the Baptist. According to biblical tradition, John was born six months before Jesus. As an itinerant preacher, he called on his contemporaries to lead a responsible life. He thus became the forerunner of Jesus, whom he also baptized.
To celebrate this day, the Wiendorf village church association invites you to a Christian midsummer festival in Wiendorf on Saturday, June 28.
At 4 p.m., the Kavelstorf church choir will sing folk songs and hymns from the Protestant hymnal in the Wiendorf church, accompanied by texts, and we will be invited to pray and receive a blessing. With the East Prussian evening song of the moose coming from the dunes to the beach, we enter into an evening together with food, drink and games for the children around the bonfire.
The roof of the Wiendorf church (photo) is leaking in places and is in urgent need of repair. Some of the paint is peeling from two crossbeams in the nave. Colored ornaments are revealed underneath, which are to be uncovered and fixed by a restorer. This will give us an impression of the once colorful painting of the interior.
Donations for the implementation of these projects are welcome.
