Hasnain Kazim: "Tour of Germany"
Hasnain Kazim gets on his bike to explore the country. What unites people, what divides them? Kazim cycles along the Elbe, Ruhr, Rhine, Main, Neckar and Danube rivers, leaving room for chance. He meets different people and talks to them about their lives in this country: What is actually still allowed to laugh about? What is home?
Some people regularly deny Hasnain Kazim his German identity. When and how do people belong here? What is diversity? Isn't it possible to talk to everyone and overcome divides with benevolence and a willingness to listen?
In search of what holds our country together: A political travelogue
Hasnain Kazim, born in Oldenburg in 1974 as the son of Indian-Pakistani immigrants, lives as a freelance author in Vienna. He writes for ZEIT ONLINE and Deutschlandfunk Kultur, among others, and has been honored as "Political Journalist of the Year" and received the "CNN Journalist Award". His book "Post von Karlheinz" (2018), a collection of dialogs with angry readers, was on the bestseller list for many weeks. "Auf sie mit Gebrüll!" (2020), a guide to arguing properly, also became a bestseller as soon as it was published.
